In mid-2014, Cliff Rosenthal began a major project to document the history of the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) movement, the movement of mission-driven credit unions, loan funds, venture funds, and banks.
Cliff was a co-creator of the CDFI movement, drafting model state legislation and concept papers in the late 1980s and early 1990s for what became the federal CDFI Fund. He was trained as a historian at Columbia University and co-authored a book that has been used in colleges for four decades (Five Sisters: Women Against the Tsar. Northern Illinois University Press).
